Ship Bottom – Long Beach Island, NJ

My Personal Choices around Ship Bottom, NJ

Long Beach Island is one of my favorite places to be in NJ, especially during the warmer months. As a homeowner in Ship Bottom, I wanted to share a mix of fun activities, great shopping, and delicious dining options that Ship Bottom offers. Here are some of my top picks:

Activities

  • Hartland Miniature Golf & Arcade: Grab your family or meet friends and play a fun round of mini-golf.
  • Ship Bottom Beach: Relax and enjoy, walk, collect shells, watch kites, watch surfers, spot dolphins – our LBI beaches are beautiful every month of the year.
  • Bay Front Concerts at Waterfront Park: Enjoy free live concerts by a variety of bands on Thursday nights throughout the summer.
  • Fishing and Crabbing Pier at 25th Street: A great spot for fishing and crabbing! Everyone stops to chat with people on the pier and check out their fresh catch!

Shopping

  • Ron Jon Surf Shop: I’ve been shopping here since the ’80s and also visit another location in Cocoa Beach, FL. It’s a must-visit for their signature surf gear, beach apparel, and more.
  • Faria’s: Another long-time LBI retailer. Highly recommend stopping in for beach and surf fashions. You can also buy or rent surfboards and bikes!
  • Hazel Boutique: Perfect for trendy clothing and accessories.
  • Ship Bottom Antiques: A great way to spend time looking through unique antiques and collectibles. You never know what treasures you’ll find.
  • Sugar Kingdom: Candy store for all ages. Fun place to stop and buy a bag of your favorites!

Breakfast/Lunch

  • Ferrara’s Bakery: Known for the jelly donut rolled in sugar, but they also have the best elephant ears too!
  • Bageleddi’s: Fresh bagels hit the spot every time.
  • The Local: Great breakfast spot – my pick for a greek omelette.
  • LBI Table: Try a different sandwich or wrap each time you visit. Their menu is always fresh and creative.
  • The Mermaid Room: Perfect stop for coffee. My go-to is a cappuccino made with oat milk. I also love to shop for merchandise as I sip my coffee!

Dinner

  • Ship Bottom Shellfish: My regular is the lump crab cake, and my family also loves the soft shell crab.
  • Raimondo’s: A great place for Italian cuisine. I usually try something on the specials menu – the eggplant stack has my attention!
  • Dune 18: Always a delicious fine dining experience. We eat outdoors in the summers and love the seasonal menu.
  • Joey’s Pizza: Our regular spot to order a large cheese pizza.
  • Burger 25: The go-to for my family’s burger cravings. They have a great menu variety.
  • The Arlington: Enjoy a meal and good drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.
  • Mystic Market: Excellent fresh seafood to grill at home! Just ask what they recommend that day. Not just a seafood market, we discovered they have the BEST subs (grilled chicken cutlet Italian – the 20″ sub will feed 3+ for lunch!)

Ice Cream

  • Ship Bottom Ice Cream: Great ice cream and fun to play corn hole outside. A perfect spot to walk to on a warm summer night.

Ship Bottom and Long Beach Island has so much to offer, and these are just a few of my personal favorites. Long Beach Island is a beautiful and magical part of the New Jersey coast that offers something for everyone!
